The Fashion Tag

Hi All,

I found this amazing Fashion Tag on Anna Saccone's Blog (http://www.annasaccone.com/) she is a great blogger and YouTuber from the UK!  Check her out!

The Fashion Tag

1. How would you describe your style?
Funky casual and trendy... I like to mix different styles and just rock it!  I love colors and patterns and love to always have a wow piece on me.  I love layers because I usually can't decide what I want to wear so I just wear it all.  I like to be comfortable, tend to wear leggings a lot! I am a country girl at heart so I love my flannel and denim shirts.  I would wear converse or Toms with every outfit if I didn't have a thousand pair do shoes.

2. What are your wardrobe staples?
Skinny jeans, flannels, combat boots, flows shirts, big sweaters, flip flops, Converse, Toms and leggings.  And obviously black everything for work.

3. Most expensive item in your closet?
Honestly I try to buy everything on sale and labels don't mean that much to me so probably a pair of Miss Me Jeans or my Coach bag if we are talking money I spent. But if we are talking gifts some of my jewelry from my amazing family.

4. Most wanted item?
Right now I really really really want a pair of Black Glossy Hunter Wellies because they are adorable and I live in Wisconsin and winters are snowy and springs and summers are rainy so they would get so much wear.

5. Favourite designer?
Betsey Johnson.. She has sooo many different eclectic designs that she has something designed for every mood I am in!

6. How much do you spend on clothes?
As little as possible... I rarely buy anything full priced and I am constantly looking for great deals! I tend to spend more on jeans and shoes than any other item in my wardrobe.

7. What are your favourite places to shop?
TJMaxx, Victoria's Secret, Forever 21, Maurices, Francescas

8. Favourite fragrance?
Marc Jacobs Lola

9. What's your favourite way to do your hair?
The first day after a wash straight with a deep side part or a center part depending on how it dried.  The second day curled.  Lately I have been using my Bed Head Curlipops 1 inch tapered curling wand.  I have really thick hair so I usually use pretty large sections then brush it out and put some texture spray in it to give it a more natural look.
Like This! *Sorry its horrible lighting*

Or if I am having a horrible hair day I throw on a hat and rock something this!

10. What is your go-to outfit when you have no idea what to wear?
Fall/Winter:  Skinny jeans or leggings with a simple sweater a statement necklace or scarf and some boots.
Spring/Summer:  Capris or shorts, gladiator sandals, a plain or graphic tee and a flannel with some fun jewelry.

11. One fashion trend you wish would come back or stay?
Leggings!  If they ever go out of style I am screwed!  Sometimes I am just too lazy to wear pants....*I know I am not alone in that statement!  Also, pretty much everything from the 80s!  I would love to rock big hair and oversized sweaters with leggings and Keds with frilly ankle socks everyday!

 12. Show us your most prized possession in your wardrobe.
This necklace was made custom for me and I love it so much.  It is a dove pulling a string of pearls and it was the logo for my family's jewelry store for years.  My father actually drew it and I have it tattooed on my foot in remembrance of him.  For my high school graduation my Aunts, Uncles and cousins had it made and it is definitely one of the most meaningful items in my life.

13. Tag some people.
I tag YOU!  If you enjoyed this do it yourself!  I would love to read more of these! So much fun!

Quick Update

 Hi All,

Well I moved all of my stuff down to Milwaukee this past weekend so I have been busy unpacking and making my new place feel like home.  It is a lot bigger than I had remembered which is awesome so I have lots of space to fill.  So eventually it will be an adorable place for me and my roommate and hopefully one day soon a furry friend to keep us company.

I will be one to admit that I love being from a small town and living in small towns, but there are definitely perks to living in a big city as well.  And I am experiencing first hand how awesome big city life is!  Can I just say that I love being able to drive 5 minutes, or LESS to be at Target!  That's insanely awesome!  And while I am visiting Target I can swing by Kohls, Marshalls and HomeGoods, Pick N' Save, Home Depot and some other fun places.  This just kinda blows my mind!

And speaking of Pick N' Save, my roommate and I made our first trip to the local groceries to stock up on everyday essentials like beer and wine. And while we were there, we pretty much became real locals because we signed up for the saver card!  I am a real local now!  Well that's about it for now, time to go back to enjoying big city life!

Packing Up and Moving Out!

Hi All,

So I'm moving on up... To the east side to the deluxe apartment in the skyyyyyyy!  Okay maybe not moving up but down, to the west side?  to a small apartment in a cute neighborhood... but I mean it's close enough right?  Tomorrow is the day of the big move! And by big move I mean I am moving about 4 hours away from my hometown.

So today I am doing all my final packing which is super exciting for sure!  Moving has definitely rid myself of any hoarder tendencies that I may have been holding on to.  My answer for everything now is get rid of it, toss it, donate it... I don't want it!  SOOOOOO Much Stuff!!!!!  Do you see this mess I have going on.  Thank goodness for my family because I would literally just throw everything into garbage bags and pretend like that was good enough if they weren't here to help out!

But by this time tomorrow everything should be into my new place and I will be in the process of getting comfortable and making my place feel like home!

Well I guess I should get back to packing and I will update you all when I get into my new place!

A Single Girl's Valentine's Day

Hi All,

So I have a confession that you might find shocking... Go ahead, sit down and prepare yourself!  I am a single girl and I kinda love Valentine's Day! What? Shocking I know!  But come on who doesn't love love?  And I guess I should clarify.  I don't love the cheesy chocolates in heart shaped boxes and all that gift hoopla but come on I love love and I do love myself! And that's why I love Valentine's Day because it is a day for me to spoil me! Let's face it I know my taste in chocolate (chocolate with peanut butter or caramel obviously are the best) better than anyone! Also, who doesn't love February 15th when chocolate is ridiculously cheap!

There are plenty of ways to be alone on Valentine's day and still have a kick ass time!  Let me share with you how I have survived spending my fair share of Valentine's days alone.

Dinner and a Movie:  The quickest way to a woman's heart is through her stomach? Well maybe not but I do love food!  Cook yourself a gourmet meal or grab your favorite take out!  Absolutely don't forget the dessert! And then hunker down in front of the television and watch a movie.  You could go totally against the holiday and watch a horror, though I am to big of a baby to watch scary movies alone, but I am a big fan of the cheesy romance.  I would recommend - He's Just Not That Into You, 10 Things I Hate About You, Crazy Stupid Love or anything with Ryan Gosling.  You could also go with Magic Mike I mean what doesn't say I am single more than oogling over shirtless Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello.  So Beautiful!

Spoil Your Body:  Treat yourself to a spa day!  Massage, pedicure, manicure, etc.  It may be February and in Wisconsin no one will be seeing your toes for months but hell, I still like my feet to be pretty and what a better way to treat yourself than to a pedicure and manicure.   Not much makes me feel better than being pampered so I would even spend Valentine's Day just getting my hair done.
So this year I challenge all of you single ladies out there to not be depressed on Valentine's day but to embrace it and love yourself!

Catch Up on Some Reading:  Let's be honest you might just want to be hiding in your house away from all the romance and the nauseating PDAs.  So why not find your favorite spot on the couch and curl up with the fluffy blanket and catch up on some reading.  I will be finished Alliegant by Veronica Roth and beginning the Matched Trilogy by Allie Condie.

Shopping Spree:  There is never a better time to drop butt loads of money on yourself then when you are spending what is supposed to be "The Most Romantic" day of the year alone.  Seriously just go to the mall and buy everything that makes you happy!  Don't forget the panties because let's be honest new underewear and possibly the best thing in the world.

If all else fails sit your ass in front of the TV and stuff your face with overpriced chocolate and a pint of Ben and Jerrys.  Find that marathon of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and judge each and every one of them.  Flip through that Cosmo and learn all about the love you will have one day.  And just be happy with yourself!  One day you will be one of those cliche couples holding hands at dinner and feeding each other your desserts.

January 2014 Favorites!

The first month of 2014 has come to an end.  I personally enjoy January because it is a fresh start and if your like me you have new fun things to try from Christmas and the Holiday sales!  I am a sucker for a sale!

So lets start with some of my favorite beauty things!

LUSH Ocean Salt
Seriously can not get enough of this stuff!  I have dry/combination skin and this stuff works magic on my face.  I use this on my face once a week usually before a special day to brighten up my complexion.  This product is made with sea salt both coarse and fine granules.  I like my exfoliators to be quite rough because it make me feel like they are really getting the job done.  I also enjoy the texture of this Ocean Salt, I would say it has a larger amount of sea salt than liquids which makes it feel slightly like a putty which makes it easy to work with.  It also is made with vodka, which of coarse excites my 'Sconsin side!  This product also works great as a body scrub.  I tend to have a bit of eczema on my shoulders and upper arms during the drier months and this product helps reduce the dry texture.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new face or body scrub.

Clarisonic Mia 2
One of my favorite Christmas gifts (to myself)...Oops!  In college I was definitely one of those girls that was guilty of having a bit too much fun and falling asleep with my face on more than a few nights.  I was really not very concerned with cleansing my face at all.  The older I get the more I am worried about making sure I maintain my skin.  Yes, this is a pretty significant purchase, but it has been worth it.  I use my Mia every night and it takes a whole minute to clean my face and I have seen improvement in the texture of my face as well as my complexion.

Lorac Pro Palette
This is by far my favorite palette this month.  I reach for this on an almost daily basis.  I tend to be a little bold on my eyes but not crazy bold and this palette has the perfect combination of colors.  The top row are all mattes and the bottom row are all shimmers which gives you a ton of versatility for daily looks and night out looks.  It has enough colors to give me a different look everyday because I am not the kind of person who wears the same look everyday, I like to shake things up a bit.

Other Random Things I have been loving:
  • My Kuerig-  Seriously brews me a cup of happiness and sanity every morning!
  • Allegiant by Veronica Roth- Haven't read a trilogy that has as great of an ending as this one in a long time.
  • Cards Against Humanity- Can't even tell you how many laughs this game has brought me and I was finally able to buy it for myself!  The laughs will never die.
  •  One Tree Hill-  Finished the series this month and can't even.  I just want to go back and rewatch the whole thing.  I feel in love with every single male in this show at least twice.
  • The Vampire Diaries-  Was my next show to start watching on Netflix and I have officially caught up and can't get over how many twists this show has.  This show has been keeping me on my toes and wanting more!
That's all for now.  Enjoy February the month of Love? Or half priced chocolates on the 15th, that's more my style!

Struggles!

True Life:  I have a mole in a terrible location!

Everyone knows that a winged eyeliner is a girls best friend.  Well this girl struggles with that because I have a horribly placed mole!  This little guy falls right where the perfect winged liner would go and it makes me struggle with the a symmetrical application on both eyes.  Which leaves me with one incredible looking wing and one that is fat and elevated and just a little funky.  It drives me bonkers.  And one would think the logical solution would be to stop trying to rock the winged liner but that just will never do!

As I sit here try to take a selfie of my little mole friend over and over I realize it just can't be done justice and you all will just have to believe me when I say it's ridiculous!  If anyone else has these kind of personal beauty struggles I would love to hear how you yourself deal with them.  Is it the everlasting frustration that makes you want to give up that I deal with?  Or are you just a more innovative person than me and have come up with an ingenious idea on how to deal.  If that's the case props to you!

As I continue to struggle with my love for winged eyeliner and my horribly placed mole, maybe one day I will have a solution for your if you in face struggle like I struggle!
